DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Persol 3019S sunglasses bring together Italian design and functional engineering in a square frame that works particularly well for smaller to medium face shapes. Made in Italy from acetate, these frames feature the distinctive keyhole bridge and Persol's signature Supreme Arrow hinges—details that have defined the brand since 1917.

Meflecto Flexible Temple System

The temples incorporate Persol's patented Meflecto system, a flexible stem technology introduced in the late 1930s. Small metal or nylon cylinders are inserted into the acetate temples and intersected with a flexible steel core, allowing the frame to adapt to your head shape without creating pressure points. The temples flex and return to their original position rather than loosening over time. You'll see the Meflecto markers—two subtle lines on each temple—that indicate this engineering.

Fit and Features

Available in 52mm and 55mm lens widths, the 3019S runs narrower than many Persol models, making it a good option if you typically find standard frames too wide. The full-rim acetate construction is lightweight yet durable, and the single-bridge design with keyhole cutout adds vintage character. Lenses are CR-39 plastic, providing 100% UV protection and available in several tints including classic green, blue, and gradient options depending on the color you choose.

These sunglasses are prescription-ready. The frame accepts single-vision and progressive lenses, so you can add your Rx and wear them as your everyday pair. Multiple colors are available, from solid black to rich havana tortoise to the distinctive terra di siena with blue lenses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Persol 3019S sunglasses good for small or narrow faces?

Yes, the Persol 3019S is particularly well-suited for smaller and narrow faces. Available in 52mm and 55mm lens widths, this model runs narrower than many other Persol styles. Customer reviews specifically mention it as a great option for those who find most Persol frames too wide. The Meflecto flexible temple system also helps the frame adapt to your unique head shape for a custom fit.

What is the Meflecto system on Persol 3019S sunglasses?

The Meflecto system is Persol's patented flexible temple technology, first introduced in the 1930s. It involves inserting metal or nylon cylinders into the acetate temples, intersected with a flexible steel core. This allows the temples to bend and adapt to your head shape, eliminating pressure points and providing superior all-day comfort. The system is marked by two subtle lines on each temple.

Can I get prescription lenses in Persol 3019S sunglasses?

Yes, the Persol 3019S is prescription-ready and can accommodate both single-vision and progressive prescription lenses. You can order them with your prescription directly, or have lenses installed later by an optical lab. The full-rim acetate construction makes them ideal for prescription lens installation.

What size should I choose for Persol 3019S sunglasses?

The Persol 3019S comes in two lens widths: 52mm and 55mm. The 52mm size is considered petite and covers a smaller portion of the face, ideal for narrow faces. The 55mm is the standard size for average face widths. Check the inside of your current glasses for engraved measurements, or use Persol's credit card test: if the card edge aligns with your outer eye corner, choose average (55mm); if it extends past, choose narrow (52mm).

Do Persol 3019S sunglasses have UV protection?

Yes, all Persol 3019S sunglasses provide 100% UV protection, blocking harmful UVA and UVB rays. The crystal lenses offer exceptional clarity while protecting your eyes in bright conditions. Some variants also feature polarized lenses for additional glare reduction.

What is the keyhole bridge on the Persol 3019S?

The keyhole bridge is a vintage-inspired design element where the bridge has a rounded cutout resembling an old-fashioned keyhole. This style sits comfortably on the nose and adds classic character to the frame. It's a signature detail on many Persol models and contributes to the 3019S's refined, retro aesthetic.

Persol 3019S vs Similar Models: Finding Your Perfect Fit

The Persol 3019S stands out in the brand's lineup for its compact, narrow fit—but how does it compare to other popular Persol sunglasses?

Persol 3019S vs 3048S: Size Matters

The biggest difference is size. The 3019S offers 52mm and 55mm lens widths, while the 3048S comes in a larger 58mm width with a more rectangular shape. If you have a smaller or narrow face, the 3019S is the better choice—customer reviews consistently mention it fits where other Persol models are too wide. The 3048S provides more coverage and suits medium to wide faces, but can overwhelm smaller features. Both feature the Meflecto flexible temple system and Italian acetate construction, so comfort and quality are comparable. The 3019S typically starts at a lower price point, making it a great entry into the Persol collection.

Persol 3019S vs 3152S: Square Style Showdown

Both models feature square frames and similar price ranges, but the 3019S has the distinctive keyhole bridge that gives it more vintage character. The visible Meflecto markers on the 3019S temples are a signature detail some collectors prefer. If you want classic Persol styling with a narrower fit and retro bridge design, the 3019S is the winner. The 3152S may offer different colorways, so check both if you're looking for a specific finish.

Persol 3019S vs 3059S: The Goldilocks Option

The 3059S sits between the compact 3019S and larger models in terms of sizing. If you're unsure whether the 3019S will be too small, the 3059S offers a middle ground. However, if reviews mention that most sunglasses feel too wide on you, stick with the 3019S—it's specifically designed for narrower faces and has the flexible Meflecto system to ensure a secure fit without pressure.

Our recommendation: Choose the Persol 3019S if you have a smaller or narrow face, appreciate vintage keyhole bridge styling, or want a lighter, more compact frame. Its Meflecto temples and Italian craftsmanship deliver all-day comfort, and the prescription-ready design makes it a practical everyday option.
