Wrong lenses delivered

Disappointed that the lenses I ordered were not as advertised or the correct lenses. Communicated that they were the wrong lenses and received a response from Optic communicating it was the wrong lenses for my frames. Optics vertically communicated they could give me a huge discount to get the right lenses and not return the lenses? Was the discount to not return the lenses? If that is the case, those lenses are far too small and worthless to me! I have several Oakley Square Wire 0004075 frames that need replacement lenses! Thank you for reaching out- I just need to find the correct lenses for my frames any assistance will be appreciated as I have received other orders from Optics without any trouble. Thank you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Oakley Square Wire 4075 sunglasses prescription-ready?

Yes, the Square Wire 4075 is fully prescription-ready and compatible with single vision, progressive, and polarized prescription lenses. The frame accepts prescriptions up to +4.00 to -5.00 (SPH & CYL combined), with cylinder values up to -3.00. Many optical retailers offer custom Prizm prescription lenses for this model.

What is Oakley C-5 alloy and how durable is it?

C-5 alloy is Oakley's proprietary blend of five metallic compounds fused into a single material. It's designed to be ultra-lightweight yet strong and flexible, allowing the thin wire frame to bend under impact and spring back into shape. Despite the delicate appearance, C-5 frames are highly durable and compete with titanium for weight and scratch resistance.

What's the difference between Prizm and polarized lenses on the Square Wire?

Prizm lenses enhance color and contrast by filtering specific light wavelengths to make details pop, while polarized lenses reduce glare from reflective surfaces like water and pavement. Some Square Wire variants offer Prizm Polarized, which combines both technologies. All Prizm lenses provide 100% UV protection regardless of polarization.

How do Oakley Square Wire sunglasses fit compared to other Oakley models?

The Square Wire features a 60mm lens width, 15mm bridge, and 123mm temple length, fitting medium to large faces. The rectangular lens shape has a lower profile (37mm height) than models like the Holbrook, making it ideal for those who prefer less lens coverage. The three-point fit with Unobtainium earsocks and adjustable nosepads ensures a secure, comfortable fit without pressure points.

What is Oakley's High Definition Optics (HDO) technology?

High Definition Optics (HDO) is Oakley's patented lens technology that provides superior optical clarity and razor-sharp vision at every angle. HDO meets or exceeds ANSI standards for optical clarity and impact resistance, ensuring distortion-free vision across the entire lens surface. This technology is standard on all Square Wire lenses.

Are the Square Wire sunglasses good for driving and outdoor activities?

Yes, the Square Wire excels for driving and outdoor use. The 8.75 base lens curvature provides wraparound coverage and peripheral protection, while Prizm lens options enhance road contrast and reduce eye strain. Polarized variants eliminate glare from windshields and wet roads. The lightweight C-5 frame and Unobtainium components ensure the glasses stay secure during activity.

Square Wire vs. Wire Tap 2.0 vs. Holbrook Metal

Choosing between Oakley's metal frame options comes down to style preference and how you'll use them. The Square Wire 4075 is the lightest and most affordable of the three, with its classic rectangular lenses and ultra-thin C-5 alloy construction making it ideal for all-day wear and prescription use. At $117.33 starting price, it offers premium Oakley optics without the premium price tag.

The Wire Tap 2.0 shares the same C-5 alloy DNA but takes a more angular, contemporary approach to design. If you want the lightweight feel of wire frames with a more modern edge, the Wire Tap delivers—though you'll pay $100+ more for that updated aesthetic. Both frames offer similar comfort and optical performance.

The Holbrook Metal brings the iconic Holbrook silhouette to a metal frame, complete with keyhole bridge and retro-inspired details. It's heavier than the C-5 wire frames and starts at $180, but if you're after that vintage-modern hybrid look, it's the clear choice. The Holbrook Metal also offers the widest selection of Prizm lens options.

For customers who prefer plastic frames, the Gascan 9014 offers a rectangular lens shape at an even lower price ($99.15), though it lacks the refined aesthetic and featherweight feel of the Square Wire's metal construction.

Our take: The Square Wire 4075 is the best value in this lineup—you get Oakley's proven C-5 alloy technology, full prescription compatibility, and Prizm lens options at the lowest price point. It's the smart choice for anyone who wants a low-profile, lightweight frame that works equally well for daily driving, outdoor activities, or prescription sun protection.
